Oma’s Pages #3
We moved to West Point into a very small house. It looked like this was going to be a very hard thing for us because we came from a very big house. But Richard starting making movies in our big backyard. All the children invited their friends over to have grand adventures in the old buildings that were in our backyard.
All of children learned how to work because we did not have a dishwasher, or anything that would make our work be easier. Our stove was so old that the door did not stay shut when we were baking things. So when we wanted to bake cookies we had to set the timer and then each child had to take a turn holding the door shut for two minutes. That sounds like a very short time but if you are standing there holding a door shut it feels like it is forever.

Everybody had to do jobs because there was so much work to do for us to live there.
I did not think we would ever be able to go on a mission because our life was so much work and we did not have very much money and we had a lot of children. I planted a big garden to help us have enough food to eat.
Opa just kept praying about the day when we could go on a mission.
What do you think happened next?
Ask your Mom or Dad to tell you some of the stories about when we lived in the little old house.
